• Library Media Specialist

    Greetings from the

    CLVCS Libraries!

I am Miss LaQuay, the School Library Media Specialist (SLMS), or School Librarian/Teacher.  The 2022-2023 school year is my twenty-sixth year running the CLVCS Elementary Library and my tenth year supporting the Middle/High Library.  I substitute taught for two years and then was an elementary teacher for five years, before becoming a Library Media Specialist.  It was a great honor for me to have our Library selected as the Library Media Center Program of the year 2003-2004, by the Cattaraugus-Allegany School Library System (CASLS), and to be nominated for the award again in 2007-2008.  In the fall of 2015, I received the Library Service Award, given by WNYLRC (The Western New York Library Resources Council).  Thank you to the teachers who nominated me!  In May of 2016, I received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Southwestern Region of the NYS PTA. It was a total surprise to receive the award at the Regional PTA Spring Conference!

I graduated from Pine Valley Central School, where I was active in Chorus, Drama Club, and Basketball.  My Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education is from Roberts Wesleyan College, in North Chili, NY.  My Master of Library Science degree was earned at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Keeping busy outside of school hours, and being involved in the community is part of who I am!  Roberts Memorial Free Methodist is my church home.  Attending Cattaraugus Christian Camp has been a lifetime tradition for our family, and I served on the planning committee for 21 years.  I am a member of the Cattaraugus-Little Valley PTA.  I was the Membership Chairperson for nine years and I coordinate the Scholastic Book Fairs.  I also help out at the Cattaraugus County Fair.
