APPR - Teacher & Principal Evaluation

  • On June 3, 2016, the Cattaraugus-Little Valley CS APPR plan was approved by the New York State Education Department. The following At-A-Glance document outlines the new requirements of the plan as outlined in Education Law 3012-d:

     
    TEACHER EFFECTIVENESS RATINGS

    According to the 3012-d requirements, teachers will no longer receive a composite score out of 100. Instead, they will receive an Overall Effectiveness Ra ting based on the rating earned in the Student Performance Category and Observation Category using the NYSED-developed matrix below:

    PART I: STUDENT PERFORMANCE CATEGORY

    This category is calculated based on student performance on State assessments or iReady, a 3rd party vendor. According to the APPR plan, teachers will be evaluated based on the following assessment calculations:

     Pre-Kindergarten Teacher    not included in APPR, but do receive a Teacher Observation Score based on Danielson Rubric.
    K - 2 Teachers 
    District-Wide Score using 4 & 8 Science, Living Envior, Earth Science, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, ELA
     Gr 3 Teachers   
    Student Learning Objective (SLO)
    using NYS ELA and math exams
    * moratorium on 3-8 testing, will use
    District-Wide Score until 2019-20 
    Gr 4 - 8 ELA and Math Teachers 
    Student Learning Objective (SLO)
    using NYS ELA and math exams

     Teachers whose course ends in a State Exam: 4/8 Science; Regents courses Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) using NYS assessment 
    Teachers whose course does not end in a State Exam: 6-8 SS; 6-7 Science; Global 1; Eco; ELA 9, 10, 12; All Elective Courses; Special Education; Speech; Library; AIS District-Wide Score using 4 & 8 Science, Living Envior, Earth Science, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, ELA
     

    The teacher’s effectiveness rating in this category will be determined using the following NYSED-developed scale:
