    Welcome To First Grade!
     
         I'm looking forward to a fantastic year of great learning, fun, and special memories. We will be doing lots of reading, writing, and math.  Our new ELA and Literacy Curriculum is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. The ELA units are referred to as "Domains." The Domains offer a variety of themes such as, fables and stories, astronomy, the human body, and different lands.  We are taking on a new adventure into the world of "Math Modules."  In grade one, students will work with whole numbers and place value including grouping numbers into tens and ones as they learn to add and subtract up through 20.  Students will also use charts, tables, and diagrams to solve problems. We have so much to look forward to!
