Tier II/III Intervention

In Tier II/III, students not making adequate progress in the core curriculum are provided with increasingly intensive instruction matched to their needs on the basis of levels of performance and rates of progress.

Definition:

Individualized Interventions Offered To A Subset Of Students And Targeting A Specific Need Or Skill. This Type Of Intervention Is In Addition To Core Instruction. Interventions In This Tier Are Monitored At Least Twice Per Month.

Why Is The Student Not Responding To Core Instruction? Where Are The Gaps In The Student’s Learning?

Indicators Of Tier Ii Intervention

Universal Screener & At-risk Students

For Students Who Are Identified As ‘at-risk’ On Screeners, A Tier Ii/iii Intervention Should Be Put In Place.

  1. Each Benchmark Period, The School-based Team(Sbt) Will Review And Analyze The Results Of The Universal Screeners (I.e. Aimsweb, Iready, Running Records, Data Binders) And Current Classroom Interventions Put In Place As A Result Of Differentiated Instruction.

  2. The Sbt Identifies All Students Labelled As ‘at-risk’ And Groups Them Based On Need.

  3. The Sbt And/or Support Provider Conducts Further Probes To Determine Specific Deficits And Determines Which Intervention Best Aligns With The Students’ Needs.

  4. The Support Provider Uses Progress Monitor Tools To Determine If The Student Is Making Adequate Growth.

  5. At A Follow-up Meeting, The Sbt Determines The Impact Of The Intervention And Next Steps.
