The CLV Trap Club had another successful and fun season this year with 27 participants. Students that participate in the club learn firearm safety and the skills necessary to do Trapshooting, a clay target shooting sport. The club was able to operate at low cost to participants thanks to the continued support of the Cattaraugus Rod and Gun Club and NRA Grant Program. Weekly scores are exchanged statewide with over 160 other schools in NYS through the New York State High School Clay Target League. One perfect score of 25 straight targets was shot by Jase Rublee during the season. At the conclusion of the regular season, individual awards were given to CLV Trap Club members as follows: Top Male Shooter – Jase Rublee, Second Place Male Shooter – Colt Erhart, Top Female Shooter – Kennedy Stein, Second Place Female Shooter- Emma Williams and Most Improved – Jordan Bowers-Seekins. On June 1st, 8 students traveled to the Allied Sportsmen Club in Alden, NY for the second annual WNY High School 100 bird shoot and scored 6th overall in the Team combined score. On June 8th, 11 of the CLV Trap Club’s members traveled to Bridgeport, NY for the NYS Clay Target League State Tournament. The team had a combined score of 414 out of 500 for the day. Trap Club has 1 senior to recognize this year: Amelia Wolf. Great job to all who participated and thank you to the Cattaraugus Rod and Gun Club for their continued support and use of their facility!
